As I mentioned, my hamstring was bugging me a bit yesterday so I took it easy on my run. I was reminded of this classic Zen story yesterday.
"A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. One the vine sustained him. Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!"
While my life was not in danger and I was not being chased by a tiger, my tight hamstring forced me to slow down yesterday. As I passed this lilac bush around Green Lake, I had to stop and snap this for you. The weather yesterday was all over the place- cold in the morning, bright sunshine midday and then rain/hail in the afternoon so I am so thankful I took the time to stop and notice these brilliant colors so that I could share this with you today.
